As is the case with most things in life, we all must follow a set of rules. We here at the CSL are no different. The league has been created as a source of recreation and fun. We certainly want to promote a competitive environment in our league...but not at the expense of fun & sportsmanship. Unfortunately everyone has a different version of what they think fun is. This, of course, is the reason we need rules. The CSL staff has been working hard on generating basic rules that will keep the integrity of the league intact, while still keeping the games enjoyable. Below is a growing list of rules that have been proposed. Some of these rules, if broken, can mean the end of your term as a member of the CSL. Please read the rules carefully, so as not to make one of these mistakes. Ignorance of the rules is not an acceptable excuse. It is your responsibility as a member of the CSL to become intimately familiar with the rules in place & ensure that you follow them accordingly.
Remember, rules are subject to change and can only be changed by members of the CSL staff. If you feel that a rule is unjust or may need to be rewritten, send our Commissioner an email, and we will be happy to revisit the rule.
NOTE: League rule changes noted in "Red".
TOUR SCHEDULE
We will be playing a tournament every week. Majors will be held after we have held two tournaments in a row. Majors will consist of two rounds (36 holes) of golf. Winners of a major will be determined by adding their scores for both weeks of the major. Players must participate in both weeks of a given major in order to be elgible for any prize winnings for the given major. If you miss one of the given weeks, you will still be allowed to participate. Your scores will be used to determine your handicap.
Each week of the tour we will be playing on two nights: Tuesdays & Saturdays. Tournaments will be held at 8 pm CST on these nights with a second round starting up at 9 pm CST. Only your first score for a given tournament/major will be used as your official score. Any additional scores (good or bad) will not be recorded for official use. We suggest that players take part in as many rounds of golf as their schedule permits to socialize with other golfers & to improve your golf game. The person who created the tournament will be responsible for recording the scores for all golfers involved, however, it would be a good idea to record your own scores just in case a mix up occurs.
Tournaments will be created in Room #3 five minutes prior to the scheduled game time. Tournaments will be created by either myself (CSLxKahuna) or Eric (gamblin). The password will be "csl05". The tournament will not be started until the timer completely runs out (i.e., 10 minutes) to ensure that anyone wishing to participate in the tournament will have a chance to do so.
The location & format of the championship is yet to be determined. I have not decided if I will run an invitation only tournament restricted to the top players of the tour or if we will use a match play format where players will be matched up against their nearest competitor (i.e., 1 vs. 2, 3 vs 4, etc.). We can discuss the possibilites as the tour progresses.

HANDICAPPING SYSTEM
In order to keep our tour as competitive as possible, we have decided to use a handicapping system. The system will be run similar to that of a bowling handicapping system. For example, if a person shoots 2 under after the first tournament, their handicap for the second tournament will be plus 2. As a result, 2 strokes will be added to their end score at the end of the second tournament. If the player shoots 2 over at the end of the second tournament, their new handicap will be zero (i.e., 2 under plus 2 over equals zero). Each player's handicap will flucuate over the course of the tour. The handicap for the given week will be displayed on the CSL Golf website. If this system doesn't work out for us, we will develop a new one as the season progresses. Since we are using a handicapping system, we will not have any restrictions on the golfers that you may use in our tour. Players will still be restricted to use the basic balls & clubs.
RANKING
We will be ranking players based on total money earned, scoring/stroke leaders & Hot Shot points. The tour winner will be determined by who has earned the most money over a given tour/season.
DISQUALIFICATIONS
Since there is no way for us to determine whether a player was accidentally or purposely disconnected or retired, any player who is disconnected or retired during tour play will be disqualified for that tournament/major. You will be allowed to participate in other rounds for that given week, however your scores will not be officially recorded.
MISCELLANEOUS
Players will not be required to play each week. Players will have the flexibility to participate in as many or as few tournaments as they wish to. Obviously those players who participate in the most tournaments/majors will have the best chance to finish at the top of rankings at the end of the year...so it is in your best interest to participate as much as possible.
