Greetings & Salutations...
First off I'd like to welcome our newest staff member into the fold, Samuel Forte' III (Sammy33). Sam has accepted the role as the MLB League Commissioner. We are hoping that his leadership & dedication will help to revive our MLB league. Season 4 for our MLB2K5 league will officially get started on Sunday, January 29th. We had originally intended for the league to kick off last week Sunday, however not all owners signed in until last night. Due to difficulties with owners dragging their feet in all of our leagues across the board, we may be forced to require league participants to furnish the staff with your login information so that our leagues can get signed up in a timely manner. Hopefully future league sign ups will run more smoothly & remove the need for us to explore this option. Back to baseball...members who are interested in playing in our MLB2K5 league or our upcoming MLB2K6 league, please be sure to contact either myself or Sammy so that we can keep our waiting list properly updated.
Season 9 of our NFL league has kicked off this week as well. This has been the bread & butter of the CSL for many years now. We were able to fill out 28 of the 32 teams in the league this season. I would like to see as much enthusiasm in the rest of our leagues as well. We currently have 18 out of the 29 teams signed up in our NBA league, 12 out of 30 teams signed up in our NHL league & 12 out of 30 teams signed up for our MLB league. Our hope is to see more owners player in multiple leagues with in the CSL...but in lieu of that...we will need to step our recruiting efforts to start bringing all of our leagues up to full capacity. While our desire is to have all teams filled in all of our leagues...we will not lower our standards when it comes to the type of players we will accept within our ranks. Speaking of recruiting...if any of you know of quality individuals that might be a good addition to our ranks...by all means...invite them to play with us. The more quality players we have within our community...the better the experience can be for all of us involved.
One thing that I would like to encourage of all of our owners in all of our leagues is for all of you to start writing more recaps of your games & articles for your teams in general so that we can post them on our various league websites. I think it will give all of us an opportunity to express ourselves & add a little more depth to our leagues as a whole. It doesn't have to be lengthy or thorough by any means...all I am looking for is a little something to expand on just the usual box scores or play-by-play logs we see in our games right now. As a suggestion...perhaps you can consider writing a recap/article after each of your teams home games. This is a great way to start & it will seem less daunting than having to write something after each & every one of your games. The more creative you are the better...it just makes it fun for everyone involved. As a side note...please keep everything in good taste & as professional as possible. We aren't going to penalize you for grammar errors or spelling mistakes...but it will always look better if most of those bases are covered before you decide to publish an article. I'll be looking forward to see what some of you post in the future.
Our golf league is still having a tough time finding a steady group of golfers...but we're still giving it our best shot. I am still in the process of finding a league commissioner to help me develop the golf league. Any interested parties are welcome to contact me. In the mean time...those who are interested in joining the golf group, please contact me directly & I'll help you get set up. Even for those of you non-golfers out there (like me)...Hot Shots Golf Fore is a fun game & easy to get started in. Our current rules makes use of a handicap system that evens out the playing field for everyone involved. It's also a classic-game so you can pick it up for just $19.99 at most stores these days. Come join us & have a little fun. This is also the only league where you get a chance to play with the CSL's only female member...
On the development front...no new news regarding the possibility of an online soccer league. I'd imagine that things won't start picking up steam until the latest version of Winning Eleven is released in February. We haven't had a lot of response to putting together a poker league, however I have asked Joe (CSLRansack) to start exploring some options for us.
That's all for this week...
Thanks...
Kawika

NHL Report (NHL2K6)
Week 11 of the NHL season has come and gone. 3 games played…3 games going unplayed. We need welcome the newest owner of the San Jose Sharks, CaptBadAss Mike O’Toole into the fold. He came out of the gates swinging defeating yours truly in a 5-4 match up. Since he inherited a 0-10 team (all loses were by forfeit), we have decided to allow him to go back and reschedule any games from Week 1 through 10. I think that is only fair. We have one more opening the New York Islanders are available. If anyone wants to claim them contact either Kawika or myself. Things appear to be getting back to a little more normalcy in the CSL NHL, let’s hope it continues. Remember it is never too soon to recruit for next year as well.
